There are many more tools for working with OBJ files in an interactive way in the OBJ window, but these are tools that work with the text of an OBJ, or by manipulating a CR2. |

The first is Geometry Switching. Zeke has a complete tutorial for this, but it really isn't difficult. The result is a file with a dial in it which can be turned in Poser, to change between different geometries, here, the beret/cowboy hat/baseball cap. It can be useful for switching weapons held in the hand, for example. |
Make Library File with External OBJ: The PPP exports objects embedded in the library file. This is awkward, because whenever you want to change something in the geometry, you must re-export. If you have sent embedded geometry to your customers, you must distribute the entire file as an update, which will destroy any custom settings your users have made in the file. For this reason, most brokers require the geometry be separate. This tool will create a new CR2/PP2/HR2 file and a separate OBJ in seconds, and is the only safe and practical way to do this.
Even if you don't have Poser 5, you have probably heard of subdivided geometry. This can allow more detail in your object, at the cost of greater file size and slower processing, as Zeke explains below.

Remove Quads: many modeling programs don't like polygons that aren't triangles, and if you are creating characters for a game using DirectX, triangles are required, or displaying the geometry will be very much slowed down. This tool will cut up such polygons and convert them to triangles. Here, the Poser formal dress (modified and partially mirrored in CR2Edit) has been converted. As you can see, there were very few triangles in it.

Consolidate OBJ: depending on the modeling app and how it is used, an OBJ can be very chopped up. Those are some lines from Posette, where every other line is for a different group. This tool puts all the "f" lines together for each group, saving a few KB, but more important, the file will load much faster and be quicker for tools to work with. |
The
Re-Group OBJ tool window has a number of functions.
